There is a reason why so many Puffins choose Iceland as their home. It's otherworldly.
Wherever you go, you are the protagonist of an epic adventure in a cinematographic setting.
Winter dresses this already breathtaking scenery in virgin snow & ice.
Winter turns on the lights, when the Aurora shows herself or a pink glow colors the sky.
For a chance to experience real Winter, you need to choose your dates right.
To find the best kept secret spots, you need Jeroen.
Follow Jeroen and venture safe into the luring highlands.

Your Expert Guide
Pick the brain of Icelandophile and professional photographer Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove. Jeroen, a Belgian by origin, now lives and works in Reykjavík. He is an award-winning landscape photographer, out and about exploring every corner of his beloved country whenever he can.
This trip classifies as type “Explorer”, which means accessible adventure for anyone in normal physical condition with comfortable accommodation and dining. The emphasis is on discovering places.
Accommodation & food
You lodge in double or twin rooms in guesthouses & hotels with private facilities for 6 nights, of which 2 nights in Reykjavík. At Volcano Huts in Thórsmörk you lodge in accommodation with shared facilities for 2 nights. You will enjoy continental breakfasts, packed lunches and two-course dinners. In Reykjavík, you will be treated to three-coures dinners on the first and last evening.
For this trip, we hire two private 4x4 Land Rover Super Defenders. Jeroen drives one of these, one guest drives the other.
Physical intensity & Climate
Apart from the occasional snowshoe hike (if conditions allow) and short hikes to vista points, this trip is not too intense in terms of hiking distances and elevation. Winter conditions in Iceland however can be quite harsh. With mental perseverance, a flexible attitude and the proper clothing, you will be well-equipped for an unforgettable adventure. Puffins will advise upon clothing to all registered participants, but you will mainly want to pack quality thermal underwear and a windproof warm winter jacket and proper boots.
Puffins listen to nature and travel with a flexible itinerary. We set goals, adjust plans to weather conditions and grasp opportunities to make the most of our trip. Safety is always our primary concern. Please ask for the detailed PDF/e-brochure.
