ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION
ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION

Undiscovered by tourists, the southwest coast combines everything you would travel north for in a single expedition cruise. This area is a complex labyrinth of fjords, islands and mountains teeming with wildlife, with huge glaciers diving from the southern fringes of Greenland’s ice sheet straight into the sea. Many places you will visit on this trip are virtually unknown to human gaze.

The end of August marks the transition from the intense Arctic Summer into Fall. The nights, even though often lit by the ghostly shadows of the northern lights, grow darker. Southwest Greenland is located in the ‘aurora belt’, and is one of the world’s prime spots to marvel at this fascinating natural show. Countless seals feed in the fjords, and we have good chances to spot minke whales when we sail closer to the open sea. On land, the tundra starts to transform into its colorful Autumn dress. Reindeer and musk oxen graze tirelessly to gain weight and prepare for the upcoming winter; and nature also has some surprises for us as we feast on endless natural supply of blueberries!

TESTIMONIALFROM THE GUESTBOOK

“Dancing in the Moonlight. Hiking through treeless marshmellow land. Front seat tickets for the Northern Lights show. 11 warm hearts around the campfire. Guest appearance in a documentary featuring muskoxen. Haunting vistas forever part of our memory. Refreshed after an iceswim in 2°C water between icebergs. Paddling in front of a massive glacier, fifty shades of blue, at least. The smell of freshly baked bread. Sharing this with your family, and the crew who become part of your family. Thank you Puffins, for your endless enthusiasm and inspiring smiles.”
