ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION
ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION

Autumn is a season of contrasts in the High Arctic; a rollercoaster of fascinating natural phenomena while life braces for a new, long winter. The tundra and birch forest explode into sensational Autumn colours, and the first snow of a new Winter season drapes the mountains. Sunny days alternate with ever longer crisp clear nights, with the ghostly northern lights dancing through the sky.

But not just the timing make these expeditions absolutely unique. The Southern fringes of Greenland are also some of its wildest country. Active glaciers calve icebergs into the fjords, and the mountain scenery in this coastal labyrinth is of a grandeur beyond imagination and unique in its sort. Forget about Patagonia’s Torres del Paine or California’s Yosemite; here you get them all in one in a raw, unspoilt Arctic wilderness as we walk and paddle along the highest vertical mountain faces on earth.

And after a while, you might almost start longing for a dinner which is not interrupted by the watchman on deck shouting ‘northern lights!’. Fall in South Greenland is an experience which will touch you deeply; it is a land of intimate beauty, strength, coordination and freedom; a true nirvana for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers and photographers. And we will get you to the very best spots out there.

TESTIMONIALFROM THE GUESTBOOK

“This trip was an incredible experience: you feel so small as a human in these rough, amazing and vast virgin landscapes. Connected with nature and each other, but disconnected from the rest of the world: this is what makes travelling with Puffins so intense. The enthusiasm and expertise of the guides makes the experience complete.”
– Hanne, 30, psychologist, Belgian

“South Greenland is one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the whole Arctic. You guide with dedication on what is for us, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Northern Lights are forever enclosed in my memory. It was an honour to be part of the Puffins expedition and share this adventure as a pioneer with this fantastic group & crew.”
