This trip is without any doubt one of the most varied in our Summer schedule. It combines highlights of the Eternity Fjord expeditions and the Ilulissat & Uummanaaq fjord expeditions into one phenomenal journey. Huge icebergs, alpine mountain scenery, glacier paddling, a full day of sailing, humpback whales, a reindeer and muskox safari, incredible pioneering dayhikes, and even the first chances of the season to see the northern lights. This 11-day expedition cruise has it all!
We start with a blast in Ilulissat, where one of the most productive glaciers on earth feeds the Ilulissat Ice Fjord, a site which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Numerous massive icebergs will continue to define the skyline as we sail south to the lively town of Sisimiut, Greenland’s second largest populated place. After crossing the Arctic circle, the absolute highlight during the second part of the expedition is without any doubt the Evighedsfjorden or ‘Eternity Fjord’, which penetrates almost 100km into sensational wilderness. The fjord is lined by high ice-capped mountains with countless glaciers diving straight into its icy waters. You will paddle near the snout of glaciers and watch in awe as huge chunks of ice thunder into the water. By the end of the trip, we might even see the first northern lights of the season.
Without any exaggeration, we dare to call Eternity Fjord one of the most beautiful, yet undiscovered fjords in the world. This is true pioneering, and it will render you speechless!
