ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION
ABOUT THIS EXPEDITION

In June, nature in Greenland is in full recovery after a long High Arctic winter. Migratory birds start nesting on cliffs overlooking the fjords and on the tundra – which explodes into a sea of flowers. Reindeer and muskoxen feast on the fresh vegetation to nourish their newborn calves; and countless humpback and minke whales penetrate deep into the fjords to feed on the blooming plankton. June is the start of the short Arctic summer; a time of plenty. It is an extremely powerful feeling to experience the seemingly lifeless fjords and tundra buzzing with activity and thriving with new life during day hikes, while paddling near the snout of massive glaciers, or simply while enjoying on deck.

While sea ice in Eastern, Northern and Southern Greenland is still melting away, the ice-free Southwest coast offers incredible opportunities for pioneering expeditions at the onset of Summer. These trips focus on the fjords near the Inuit town of Maniitsoq, most notably the Evighedsfjorden or ‘Eternity Fjord’, which penetrates almost 100km into sensational wilderness. The fjords are lined by high ice-capped mountains with countless glaciers diving straight into its icy waters. Without any exaggeration, we dare to call Eternity Fjord one of the most beautiful fjords in the world – yet we will not see any other tourists. This is true pioneering, and it will render you speechless!

TESTIMONIALFROM THE GUESTBOOK

“For me, this was my first trip in nature and it won’t be my last. It was an unforgettable & true adventure and I am so proud to be a puffin pioneer.”
– Marleen Beckers, optician, 57, Belgian.

“Once in a lifetime. Disconnected from the world. So many trips in just one. A whole bucketlist crossed: hearing icebergs crack, spot so many whales, ice swimming, name nameless mountains… The Puffins have a heart for Greenland and guide you without patronizing, so you feel like a true pioneer.  In one word: WOW. We are still reminiscing and enjoying.”
